How to Set Up IPTV on Samsung Smart TV

Samsung TVs from around 2016 onwards run Tizen and install IPTV apps directly — the TV becomes the whole system, one remote, nothing hanging out of an HDMI port. Here's the setup from start to finish.

Before you start

• Confirm your TV has the Apps store on its home ribbon (if not, the TV predates Tizen — a Firestick is the better route).
• Connect the TV to the internet — wired Ethernet if the router is close, otherwise 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
• Have your Nexlivo welcome message to hand.

Step 1: Install a player from Samsung Apps

1. Press Home on the remote.
2. Open Apps.
3. Use the search (magnifying glass) and type the player name — IPTV Smarters or IBO Player are the usual choices on Tizen.
4. Select the app and click Install, then Open.

Store listings vary by region and change occasionally. If your first choice isn't listed, search for the other — your subscription works in either.

Step 2: Sign in — two possible flows

Which screen you see next depends on the app:

Flow A — direct login (IPTV Smarters and similar). Choose the Xtream Codes API login and type the username, password and server URL from your welcome message. TV keyboards are painful; go slowly, the details are case-sensitive.

Flow B — MAC-address registration (IBO Player family). The app shows a MAC address (and possibly a device key) instead of asking for a login. On a phone or computer, visit the app developer's website, sign in with that MAC address, and add a playlist there using your Nexlivo details — the Xtream/API option is the one to pick. Step 3: Reload and watch

Back on the TV, reload or restart the app. It downloads your channel list and programme guide — a minute or two on first run — and live TV is ready. Add favourites early to skip scrolling through the full list every evening.
